back
I haven't written here in quite a while. Since my last post in july 2009 a lot has happened. My girl and I have a 6 month old baby girl which her lovelymother and I enjoy greatly. I'm finally divorced from my almost ten year old son's mother. He lives with us pretty much full time and now goes to a great seattle school. We don't get out to shows as much as we used to. With all that, this blog I think will morph to be the ramblings of my mind. Hello again and hopefully I'll be back here in less than ten months.

Shows and stuff from the Stranger
I had such high hopes for this when I started it over a year ago. I never really found the time to do it. I'll give it another shot and see what happens. It may just turn into a 'when I remember to update and put the time in' blog.
Seattle shows and stuff that are of interest to me this week in no particular order:
Tues 7 july 09
Can Can - Vince Mira, guests 8pm
I haven't made it to any of his shows yet, but I hear good things and he's in Seattle Metro magazine this month.
Club Motor - Infected (KY), K. Davis & the Have Nots (KY) 8pm
Both bands are from kentucky and they played the funhouse last night. I didn't see them, but if two clubs are willing to book them, they're probably pretty good. Support touring bands!
Funhouse - Touch me, Satan, This is a stick up (NY), the omega moo 9:30pm, $5
The omega moo are great and will give a good show. I haven't heard of touch me, satan and this is a stick up, so I don't know about them.
Nectar - Cataldo, the curious mystery, born anchors, 8pm, free
I just saw the born anchors at the sonic boom in store they did last week and they were pretty good for a hipster kexp band.
weds 8 july 09
Comet - Jack Wilson & the Wife Stealers, 6pm free
Country folk-rock for free!
Funhouse - Mad Rad, Thee Satisfaction, Tiffany Stedinsky, 9:30pm, $6
Its some chicks birthday and mad rad should be good.
until next week...

Shows and stuff from the Stranger
Seattle shows and stuff that are of interest to me this week in no particular order:
Thursday 22 May 2008
Club pop!: Starfucker, the Hugs, and guests at Chop Suey $8/$10 - I just like the name Starfucker. This is an 18 and over show, so beware.
Bill Dwayne & the Creepers, the Raggedy Anns, the Kings of Outlaw Country, Marshall Scott Warner at the Funhouse $5 - This sounds like a good rockabilly show.
Steel Tigers of Death, Bullet club, Hearseburner at King Cobra
The Bad plus, Osmosis at the Tractor $25/$27 - I'd go if I could afford it.
Friday 23 May 2008
The show is the Rainbow, Partman Parthorse, 1-2-1-2 at the Comet $7 - Partman parthorse is on the Funhouse comp thing 2, so go to this show.
The Lights, So Cow, NoBunny, Blood Red Dancer at the Funhouse $6 - So Cow is from Ireland and NoBunny is from Sacramento.
Blowfly, Antiseen, I Defy, Sok & the Faggots at Hell's Kitchen $10 - Its in Tacompton, but worth the drive. Again, you'll kick yourself if you miss Blowfly.
Hard Money Saints, Church for Sinners, Bloodfeast, Sir Mark the Poet at Slim's last chance $7 - Hard money saints are a rockabilly/greaser band that is always worth it.
Saturday 24 May 2008
Devil's Food, Bastard son of the Nuge, Nine Mile Iris at Blue Moon - Its free and I have a friend who worships Ted Nugent.
Throw Rag, the Heart Attacks, the Heels at King Cobra - They never advertise prices for the King Cobra shows which is annoying, but the Heels are not annoying, they are a great girl band that are on the Funhouse comp thing 2.
Thee Emergency, We wrote the book on Connectors, A gun that shoots knives at the Sunset $7 - I hate shows at the Sunset, but you could go to this one and have an ok time.
Boys of greenwood glen, Verona, Sid and Fancy, Chervona at the Bit Saloon $5
Monday 26 May 2008
The Tallboys at the Tractor $5/$7
Tuesday 27 May 2008
Old Timey Jam, guests at Conor Byrne - Free and probably some good bands that didn't have anything booked for a tuesday.
Voodoo Organist, Swampy Draws, the Load Levelers at Hell's Kitchen $5 - The Load Levelers are old skool and don't fuck around.
The Teapot Dome Family, Ruby Dee & the Snakehandlers, the Outlaws at the Tractor $6 - Good cheap show at the Tractor.
The Verb, Crimson Ghosts, the Mercury Four at the Funhouse $6
Wednesday 28 May 2008
Fresh blends: Koffin Kats, Brigitte Handley, the Lucky Devils, Total Wreck, 6pm early show at Hell's Kitchen $7 - Brigitte Handley is from Australia and are on their US tour and won't disappoint.
Artless Fiction, Mute Era, Melting Plastics at the Funhouse $5 - Mute Era is from my home state of Minnesota, so go and support a starving US touring band.
Remember that the SIFF kicks off this week so check out the best of indie films. Sasquatch is also this week.
